Small Town Coffee is a cafe on the edge of old Kapaa town on the island of Kauai. The interior is sort of homey industrial. Wooden planks on the floor, exposed red beams cross the ceiling and unflashy antique like furniture adorn the place. A neat collage on the floor, chalk board with what’s good and bad for coffee and a clock where the time is always (but never) “now” add to the ambiance.

On the menu you can get all the types of coffees and teas that you’d expect to have at a coffee shop. The great thing is that all the coffee sold is organic. Besides getting your caffine fix, you can also grab a bite to eat, such as a fresh baked muffin, bagel with butter or cream cheese or a selection of sandwiches.
Prices may be considered a bit on the high side, but in reality not much more then what you’d easily lay out going to Starbucks, and especially when you consider that you’re on an island where nearly everything is going to cost a tad more then it does on the mainland. For instance, a bagel with butter will end up running you $2.25, one of their creative egg sandwiches on a bagel will run you roughly $8 and a 16 oz (473 ml) Ice Mocha will fetch $5.35. A simple brewed coffee is a just over $1, an Americano $2.75 while a 20 oz ice tea will get you for about $2.40. Rest assured, besides being all organic, its quite tasty, and well worth the price you pay.
The scene is definitely laid back and comfortable. If you come back a few times you’ll almost assuredly run into the same regulars who hang out each morning, often to take advantage of the free wifi. Be aware, it can get busy, especially at those peak morning coffee break times, but don’t wait too long as its only open from 5:30am till 1pm.
They don’t seem to have a website, but the address is 4-1345 Kuhio Highway, Kapaa, HI and phone number (808) 821-1604 and there’s even an online community via a facebook group for the people who come by daily.
