Hanakapiai Beach along the Kalalau Trail
At approximately the 2 mile marker of the Kalalau Trail which runs along the Na Pali coast of the island of Kauai, lies this beautiful beach. Frequented by visitors as a relatively easy forary along the trail, it serves as a resting spot for those going further to either the Kalalau valley or Hanakapiai falls. The trail leading up to this point is easy in terms of difficulty. There are several changes in elevation, and the trail can get quite muddy so don’t wear the white sneakers.

The one drawback to the beach is its accessibility. During the afternoon hours, it is often difficult to get away, and would be considered pretty crowded by Kauai standards. Another thing to consider is that this is not a beach to visit if swimming is what you want to do. The rip currents have killed numerous people and there is a sign nearby that keeps makes this point painfully clear.
From this point, visitors have to choose one of three paths to take; turn around and head back to their car, hike another 2 miles south to Hanakapiai falls or another 9 miles to the Kalalau valley.
